Ordering two-digit numbers - number lines and rectangles
Children take part in a balloon race to see which balloon travels the farthest. You can use a number line to order the balloons by distance travelled. Start by ordering the one-digit numbers, then the two-digit numbers starting with a one, and finally the two-digit numbers starting with a two.
The results from the balloon race in pt 1/2 can be shown using a number line. However, when all of the numbers are on the line it becomes very long and difficult to look at, therefore it may be better to represent the numbers as a number rectangle.
