Musician Jools Holland describes his earliest experiences of playing the piano and pianola. There is a demonstration of how tempo and dynamics can be changed on a pianola, and an explanation of how the pianola was used by musicians such as Gershwin and Fats Waller to bring their music into British homes in the late 19th and early 20th century.
