Boogie and Blues

Jazz pianist Jools Holland explains a possible origin of the boogie-woogie style and identifies some of its key features. In addition, there is a description of how styles have developed and merged over time to create fusions such as a stride and boogie combination. Extracts from performances by musicians including Johnnie Johnson, George Shearing and Billy Preston are used to demonstrate blues piano styles.
