Understanding harmony
Composer Big George explains the importance of both vocal and instrumental harmonies. He explains how harmony can either blend or clash. He also explains how a drone is used in music and uses bagpipe music to demonstrate this form of harmony. He then identifies how to build a major and minor chord, and explains why the 3rd of the chord is omitted in some styles of music. Finally he demonstrates how a 7th is added to chords - a common feature of jazz music.
