I Have a Dream – Derby debate on racial harmony and equality
On August the 28th, 1963, the Reverend Martin Luther King stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech.
He was greeted with rapturous applause from a 250,000-strong crowd of civil rights protesters.
He spoke of the need "to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice".
