Emmett Till's cousin speaks of the night he was taken in 1955
Simeon Wright was in the same bedroom as his cousin when he was kidnapped to be killed for whistling at a white woman. He tells Dotun Adebayo that Emmett Till "didn't have a clue as to what was about to happen to him" when two white men took him from his bed in his uncle's house in a small town in Mississippi. African-American civil rights activist Rosa Parkes said his death inspired her to famously refuse to give up her seat on a bus.
