Mental Health charities have welcomed a move by Asda to withdraw a mental patient fancy dress costume that has been on sale in their online halloween display.

The costume included a horror mask, a meat cleaver and a medical gown splattered with fake blood.

The packaging reads, "everyone will be running away from you in fear in this mental patient fancy dress costume...its a terrifying halloween option."

So is this just harmless fun or evidence that attitudes to mental illness haven't changed?

Many of us use the NHS on a regular basis and rely on the medical expertise of the people who treat us and our loved ones.

But what happens when we challenge the advice we're given by doctors?
