Women in Business

As Janet Yellen becomes the first woman to head the US Federal Reserve, we ask what the differences are between male and female leaders.

As Janet Yellen is nominated to become the first woman in charge of US monetary policy at the Federal Reserve, we ask Angel Gurria, secretary general of the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), what the world can expect from her.

Plus Mr Gurria, and Olivier Blanchard, chief economist of the International Monetary Fund, give us their views on the growing political crisis in Washington DC over the debt ceiling - and what it could mean for global financial markets.

We speak to Kathryn Bishop, associate fellow of the Sa茂d Business School, Oxford University, who organises a pioneering leadership course for some 30 businesswomen from around the globe. What inspired her to focus on female leadership? And we speak to one of the participants about what qualities women bring to decision-making that men might learn from, and vice versa.
