An insight into the challenges of adapting 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time' for different theatre spaces, from in the round to a proscenium arch stage. The cast and creative team explain the differences between these two spaces and comment on the challenges of adapting the staging. The National Theatre production began in the round, in the Cottesloe Theatre, and then transferred to the proscenium arch stage at the Apollo Theatre. Footage from both productions is compared to show the differences in staging.

In the round staging is very intimate, with the audience close up and on all sides. In contrast, we see that the proscenium arch is a much bigger space with the audience further away, but this had its own virtues, as explained by director, Marianne Elliott. We hear the challenges of adapting the staging for the character of Siobhan, who is the narrator. Choreographer, Scott Graham, comments on how the actors had to develop their movement to work in a new space. Footage of both productions is continually used to show the differences in staging.
