Should India be trying to go to Mars? ; M23 to end DRC insurgency
India has successfully launched a spacecraft to Mars costing $72m. Also, the M23 rebel group in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo says it's ending its insurgency.
Should India be trying to go to Mars? India has successfully launched a spacecraft to Mars - with the aim of becoming the fourth space agency to reach the Red Planet. The mission is costing $72m, which is considered to be comparatively cheap, but some commentators have still questioned whether a country with one of the highest rankings for childhood malnutrition in the world should be spending such money on a space mission.
Also, where does the future lie for the Democratic Republic of Congo? The M23 rebel group in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo says it's ending its insurgency, hours after the government claimed military victory. The movement has said it will adopt "purely political means" to achieve its goals.
