Dissociative Identity Disorder, All in the Mind Awards and a new book about Bipolar Disorder

Dr Chetna Kang and Toby Friedner focus on disability and mental health.

Imagine a world where one minute you're fine and the next you suddently and without warning, feel like a frightened child who can't call out for help.

This is the reality for Cathy from Luton who lives with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). During an episode the world becomes shadowy to her and the people around her fade away. She describes the feeling like being disconnected and watching herself from a distance.

Although it's a recognised diagnosis it is rarely treated as effectively as it could be. This leaves many who have it debilitated and often unable to function. Today we'll hear Cathy's story and talk to one of the country's leading DID specialists.

Plus we speak to Claudia Hammond presenter of 大象传媒 Radio 4's mental health programme All In The Mind, about the 25th anniversary of the programme and the awards they've launched.
