How do you make the vast Nigerian city of Lagos work for all its inhabitants, not just those with a lot of money? There is consensus that it struggles to function, but how do you change that? Lagos is the country's business capital - how it performs affects the rest of the country. It is also a brilliant case study for other mega cities around the world. In the week that the 大象传媒 World Service has been focusing on the next wave of emerging economies, dubbed the MINT countries, Nkem Ifejika is joined in Lagos by three people who know and love the city. They live and work there, and have seen it change over time. Papa Omotayo is an architect who runs his own practice in Lagos. Kunle Elebute is Partner & Head of KPMG Advisory Services for Nigeria and West Africa, and Patrick Utomi is a founding professor at the Lagos Business School. And, regular commentator Colm O'Regan travelled from Dublin to Dubai to report on what it is like arriving in a city that is brand new.
