The Wealth Gap Widens
The gap between rich and poor is growing in most countries and could become entrenched if governments do not act. Mark Pearson of the OEDC explains why rising inequality matters?
A new report from the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development says that the gap between rich and poor is growing in most countries, and that it threatens to become entrenched if governments do not act fast. Mark Pearson of the OECD explains why rising inequality matters. The main cause of the wealth gap, many believe, is the growing use of technology such as robots to perform unskilled work. We hear from Tyler Cowan, author of the book Average is Over: Powering America Beyond the Age of the Great Stagnation, about the challenges facing tomorrow's employees. Cowan offers some tips for future employees on how to make sure they will fit in the 21st Century workplace.
Also, from a rather different perspective, Lucy Kellaway of the Financial Times reflects on Britain's leading private school, Eton, and some of the burdens of privilege. Is being rich and expected to do well actually the best recipe for success?
