Dylan - A religious man?
Part of a fascinating discussion between Richard Burton and Ronnie Williams on Dylan Thomas, from the time when Burton was in Wales for the 1971 filming of ‘Under Milk Wood’. Ronnie Williams recalls a conversation with his drama tutor who had visited Dylan in Laugharne on the day that the Second World War was declared. Dylan, destined never to fight due to a medical condition was a nervous wreck, imagining the effects of war on the lives of women, children and old people. Burton agrees that the Dylan he knew saw life as being a burden, though he saw him as a deeply compassionate and religious individual. From an interview with Ronnie Williams for Late Call.
