Shredding a Rembrandt - and other tales of accidental art destruction

A painting auctioned in Hong Kong for $3.7m has gone missing, with some reports suggesting it could have been thrown out by cleaners. The painting, Snowy Mountain by the Chinese artist Cui Ruzho, was sold on Sunday. Hong Kong media says police had checked CCTV footage that showed cleaners removing the painting at the Grand Hyatt hotel where it was sold. The hotel denies its staff were involved. Philip Hoffman from the Fine Art Fund Group in London, has his own stories of accidental art destruction.
