Tributes have been made to the actor Bob Hoskins who has died at the age of 71, following pneumonia.
Jan Dunn, who directed Bob Hoskins in low-budget British film Ruby Blue said he was an 鈥渁bsolutely fantastic鈥 man who "will be lost and grieved by many, many people". Jan also praised his support of new film-makers and recalled her experience of working with him:
鈥淲hat I particularly remember fondly about Bob is he called himself 鈥榦ne take Bob鈥, and I only had two weeks to shoot the film so he had met his match with me, because I鈥檓 鈥榦ne take Jan鈥 because I just don鈥檛 have six weeks to shoot on the budget I shoot with.鈥
Simone Reynolds, who cast him in The Long Good Friday said he was 鈥渁 remarkable man鈥ith a sheer force of energy, wit and intelligence" who had 鈥渉oned his craft鈥 in the theatre.
Bob Hoskins retired in 2012 after a diagnosis of Parkinson鈥檚. His long list of film credits also includes Nixon, Made in Dagenham, and Mermaids. He also won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Oscar for Mona Lisa, and starred in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
