Banksy officially gives artwork to boys' club
The street artist Banksy sent a note to a boys 'club in Bristol to say that it can keep a piece of street art which appeared outside its premises.
The street artist Banksy has told a boys' club in Bristol that it can keep a piece of street art which appeared outside its premises.
The work, called 'mobile lovers' was removed by the leader of the nearby Broad Plain Boys' Club to raise money when it appeared a few weeks ago. But after Bristol's Mayor intervened it was housed temporarily in the city's museum.
A note from the artist has now been given to the club saying Banksy is happy for the club to do what it feels is right with the piece.
Dennis Stinchcombe from the club reads the letter:
Dear Dennis
I hope this finds you well.
As you know I recently painted on a doorway near the club.
This was meant to be a small visual gift to the area but apparently a financial one would have been more useful.
I don't normally admit to commiting criminal damage but seeing as it looks as if charges won't be brought anytime soon, you have my blessing to do what you feel is right with the piece.
I am a great admirer of the work done at the club and would be chuffed if this can help in some way. Your tenacity in the past few weeks has made for an entertaining spectator sport
I assume you're familiar with the quote attributed to Abraham Lincoln
"Things may come to those who wait - but only the things left behind by those who hustle..."
Best wishes
Banksy
