Donald Macleod then explores the two visits that the composer made to Venice to train with Giovanni Gabrieli, to see how they influenced Schutz鈥檚 music. Donald Macleod then turns to Schutz's role as Kapellmeister of the Elector of Saxony, where he worked for 57 years and lastly the effect the 30 years war had on Schutz's life and music.
