Turkey Soma mine 'safety procedures not sufficient'
Fire and explosion protection in the Soma mine in Turkey was "insufficient and outdated" an engineer, who inspected the mine after the disaster that killed over 280 people, has said.
Mahir Ulutas from the Chamber of Electrical Engineers in Izmir spoke with workers and went in to the Soma mine following the explosion and collapse at the mine in western Turkey.
The operator of the mine Soma Holding has denied any negligence.
