Zeppelin Raids: Eyewitness accounts from people in the east end of Sheffield recounting the night in September 1916 when death rained down from the sky over Sheffield. A German Zeppelin dropped a series of bombs in a line between Burngreave and Attercliffe. Reporting at the time was heavily censored - but we know at least 28 people died and 19 were injured. 10 buildings were demolished entirely and 62 houses damaged. This audio was recorded more than 30 years ago by volunteers at the Sheffield Archive.
