Benjamin Odeje: The first black footballer to play for England

As the World Cup gets well under way, a celebration of the new sporting season is taking place in Nottingham with an exhibition shedding light on the first black footballer to play for England.

Seven years before Viv Anderson became the first black player to appear in a full international for England and six years before Laurie Cunningham represented England in an under-21s international, a Nigerian-born teenager from London was called up by England schoolboys to make his debut against Northern Ireland in front of 70,000 fans.
