Bournemouth death: 'We've lost our sense of community'
The body of a woman has been found in her flat in Bournemouth - six years after she died. Nearby residents say that they thought she had moved, and expressed shock and guilt after the discovery.
Carolyn Dennis, who runs the Contact the Elderly group in Bournemouth, told Adrian Goldberg that the death shows that Britain has lost its sense of neighbourliness, which she said has declined since the 1950s and 1940s.
She said that we live in a "selfish world", and many people don't want to get involved in helping older people, because they are "frightened" that they will have to get involved and do things, when all that older people want is a "friendly chat".
