Baker faces action over 'support gay marriage' cake

A bakery owned by a Christian in Belfast is facing legal action from the Equality Commission for refusing to make a cake with a slogan supporting gay marriage.

In a statement, the firm's general manager, Daniel McArthur, said he stood by his decision and business owners should be 鈥渁llowed to follow their Christian beliefs and principles鈥.

Calum Webster, from the Christian Institute, told 5 live鈥檚 Drive the bakery manager should not have to 鈥減romote a political agenda鈥 if he did not wish to.

However Gavin Boyd, from Northern Ireland Gay Rights organisation, the Rainbow Project, said companies did not have to "endorse" products they made for customers.
