'Sexting' can be an offence, police warn teenagers
Teenagers who send explicit pictures of each other could be threatened with prosecution, a police officer has warned.
Det Sgt Jan Rusdale, from Nottinghamshire Police's sexual exploitation investigation unit, said sending a naked picture of a person under-18 was "distribution of an indecent image".
The officer recently warned a young couple about "sexting" after the girl sent her boyfriend a photo of her breasts.
However, she added that the force did not want to criminalise children and would consider each case individually.
First broadcast on Victoria Derbyshire’s programme on 23 July 2014.
