UK Government 'promptly' banned arms exports to Russia
The UK government 'acted promptly' to ban the sale of arms to Russia, a defence trade executive has said.
Paul Everitt, CEO of the National Trade Association for the UK Aerospace, Defence, and Security industry, said the government took action at the end of 2013 when international relations with Russia "changed dramatically".
The UK government has criticised European countries who have continued to supply Moscow with weapons.
"If you look at the system of export control that underpins the regime, it is extremely robust and very transparent" he said.
First broadcast on the Shelagh Fogarty programme on 23 July 2014.
