The Israeli army鈥檚 foreign volunteers
More than 700 Palestinians have been killed in the two-week long conflict in Gaza, officials say. More than 30 Israelis have been killed too, among them three volunteers, known as lone soldiers because they come to Israel on their own from the Jewish diaspora in the US, Australia, and Europe. What motivates them? Herb Keinon is a author of Lone Soldiers, Israel's Defenders From Around the World, but first you鈥檒l hear from Ilan Benjamin, who was born in the US but has signed up for the Israeli Defence Forces.
