Kilbane criticises 'negativity' towards Down's syndrome

Former footballer Kevin Kilbane, whose daughter Elsie has Down's syndrome, has criticised the "negativity" people have showed towards a baby with the same condition who is at the centre of a surrogacy row.

The case involves a Thai surrogate mother, who claims baby twin "Gammy", pictured, was left behind by his Australian parents.

The biological father said he did not know his healthy daughter had a twin, but surrogate Mother, Pattharamon Chanbua, claims he visited them in hospital and asked her to have an abortion when they discovered their son's condition.

Former Ireland winger Kilbane said that caring for a child with Down's syndrome was "difficult at first" but was "very, very rewarding".
