Mahler - Symphony No. 6 in A minor

The Sixth was the most personal and biographical of Mahler's symphonies to date.

The haunted expression of Mahler's Sixth culminates in the three famous percussive hammer blows of fate in its finale – Mahler’s triple premonition, his wife claimed, of his forced resignation from the Vienna Court Opera, the death of his first daughter at the age of four from diphtheria, and the diagnosis of Mahler’s own heart condition, which would eventually take his life.
