Leading doctor: Hospital was safeguarding Ashya King
A leading doctor says a hospital in Southampton was right to take action against Ashya King's parents, after he was removed from their care.
The parents of five-year-old Ashya, who has a brain tumour, were arrested in Spain after taking him out of hospital against the advice of doctors.
They say they took him abroad so he could get a treatment for his brain tumour that wasn't offered to him in the UK.
The CPS is in the process of withdrawing the European Arrest Warrant against his parents, who are currently in a Spanish jail.
However, Dr Mike Smith, chairman of the Patients Association, said the hospital had acted to safeguard the health of the child, which was "potentially at risk".
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust said they had been willing to support the family's transfer to Prague for proton beam radiotherapy, but did not recommend it.
