Ebola Vaccine Being Tested on Humans
Testing an Ebola vaccine on human volunteers, non-surgical circumcision in Rwanda, what鈥檚 the best way to clean your teeth and what are the new global goals for health after 2015?
The first human volunteer was injected this week with an Ebola vaccine developed by the Jenner institute in Oxford. It is being tested for safety but also whether it will give enough immune response in healthy people. Claudia talks to professor Adrian Hill who is leading the trials.
Also in the programme, the 大象传媒鈥檚 Prudent Nsengiyumva reports from Rwanda about a non-surgical method of circumcising men in a bid to curb the spread of HIV. Also, Claudia talks to professor of dental health, Aubrey Sheiham about the lack of research into teeth cleaning, but he gives advice on what works and the best way to protect teeth from decay and damage.
The United Nations General assembly is meeting in New York. On the agenda are what the new goals for health should be after the 2015 deadline for the Millennium development goals approaches. Sarah Boseley discusses what the new goals for health might be.
