Are pet owners wrong to treat dogs like humans?
A former RSPCA chief vet says he is "concerned" after a survey showed 85% of dogs "struggled to cope" when their owners left them home alone.
Mark Evans, who carried out the survey for Channel 4s Dogs: Their Secret Lives, said the dogs saw owners as "friends" and "felt anxiety" when left alone.
So are dog owners wrong to mollycoddle their dogs? Do our four-legged friends need toughening up?
Dog psychologist Stan Rawlinson said owners needed to stop seeing themselves as parents to animals and treat them like dogs.
