'IS fighters will blend into the civilian population to avoid UK airstrikes'

British fighter jets have flown their first combat mission over Iraq since Parliament authorised military action against Islamic State militants.

Two jets took-off from the British military base at Akrotiri in Cyprus, loaded with laser-guided bombs and missiles.

They returned seven hours later. The MOD says no bombs were dropped, but valuable intelligence was gathered from areas where militants are threatening civilians.

Simon Turner is a defence consultant and a former RAF pilot who was involved in the no-fly zones over Iraq, he told Lucy Grey what the Tornado jets can do.
