Colombian women鈥檚 group wins top UN award
A Colombian women鈥檚 rights group has won the UN Nansen Refugee award, the UN Refugee Agency鈥檚 top prize. The volunteers in 鈥淏utterflies with New Wings Building a Future鈥 risk their lives in the dangerous Colombian port city of Buenaventura, helping displaced people and victims of violence. Gloria Arboleda is one of the founding members. She grew up in extreme poverty and witnessed violence in the home: her father regularly beat her mother.
