White House intruder 'like an American football player'
Reports from Washington say the man who jumped a fence and raced across the lawn of the White House this month made it further than previously known.
Officials have now revealed that Omar Gonzalez, a veteran of the Iraq war who was carrying a knife, ran through much of the main floor of President Obama's residence, before he was finally apprehended by a security officer.
'The Secret Service encounter on average about five people a month who either attempt to jump the fence or drive a car through the gate,' says former FBI special agent Clint Van Zandt. 'The vast majority have some type of mental health condition. They think they have a message for the President.'
