Victim: Rape in England and Wales at 'epidemic levels'
A rape victim says she believes the crime in England and Wales is at "epidemic levels".
Jill Saward, a rape victim who waived her anonymity to campaign for the victims of sex attacks, said the high levels were a result of "misconceptions" about rape.
It comes after figures from the Office for National Statistics showed rapes reported to and recorded by police were at their highest levels, with cases involving sharp weapons up 48%.
"We need people to understand what rape actually is about," she said. "There are so many myths that people believe."
