Adoption information laws: a time for change
Thousands of people are now able to find out who their biological grandparents are thanks to campaigning by two women.
Frances Lake, based in Johannesberg, and Hannah Renier from the UK, have been campaigning for a change in law since discovering their fathers were both adopted as children.
Lake, whose father was adopted when he was four says, "it has been a very long and frustrating journey", stating, "we agreed that there was a need to bring us in line with the rights of every other birth relative".
She explains that herself and Renier are following legislation changes very closely in order to ensure that it is done in the "correct way" but are still continuing to fight for their information.
