My daughter self-harmed because of my divorce
A father talks of how his daughter began to self-harm and turned to drink as she struggled to cope with the break-up of her parents' marriage.
Reports have found two-thirds of young people whose parents separate or get divorced say they end up doing worse at school as a result. Some of them even turn to drink and drugs in order to cope.
Mark split up with his wife three years ago and says, "to put it bluntly, it's been difficult. My son chose to live with me and my daughter chose to live with my wife."
Speaking to 5 live Breakfast's Rachel Burden, he says that although his son has dealt with the divorce well, "my daughter just couldn't cope with the break-up of the family unit".
