How broadcasters have used the 'empty chair'
There is talk of an ‘empty chair’ being left at the planned 2015 TV leader election debates if David Cameron declines to take part.
Andrew Neil looked back on how a piece of furniture has become a symbol of MPs refusing to appear on TV to defend their position or discuss policy in previous years, including Peppa Pig being used as a stand-in for Labour at the 2010 election.
The presenter spoke to the psychotherapist and writer Lucy Beresford on what viewers may make of the PM's chair, or podium, standing empty during a high-profile live debate.
