El Capitan free climber: 'I had my doubts if I would finish'
Two American climbers have made history after free climbing El Capitan in California. It took Kevin Jorgeson and Tommy Caldwell 20 days to reach the top of El Capitan in the Yosemite National Park.
Kevin Jorgeson told 5 live about a part of the climb that he failed 11 times, he said: "I knew I was capable, it came down to conditions of two types. The weather and the other, the skin on my fingers. I knew if I could get those two things right then I could do it.
"Luckily, the partnership and bond that Tommy and I have as climbing partners is quite strong and he told me he would wait as long as it took to finish."
