Syriza's Rena Dourou: Greece 'will pay its debt'
Governor of Athens, Syriza's Rena Dourou told John Humphrys: "The austerity policies from the last five years have not given a solution to the Greek debt".
Asked whether the country can afford the level of current public spending, Ms Dourou replied "Can you give me an example of an investor who will come to my country with no social cohesion?"
"Who will spend his and her money to a state like this?"
"My mum's pension has been cut more than 30 times, can you believe that?"
On negotiating with the level of debt with the EU Ms Dourou said: "We are going to pay our debt...sometimes I'm thinking this is the easy way to leave the European Union, but we follow the hard way because we know we are fighting the name of the Greek society and the name of the European Union".
