Two minute explainer: Why does Libya still face unrest?
US Ambassador to Libya, Deborah Jones, summarises why Libya is in disarray three years since Colonel Gadaffi, the Libyan dictator, was overthrown with help from NATO forces, including the UK's.
Libya has been in chaos ever since, with the most recent atrocity in the capital city Tripoli where at least nine people were killed and 12 injured.
"As I say to people in somewhat jest..Don Vito Corleone died and left no successor regime".
"They are going to have probably more than a $40bn deficit this year due to continued expenditure on salaries...and a loss of oil revenues and a loss of any kind of central control".
