Episode 1 of 2
In the first of two programmes, Phil Cunningham uncovers bagpipe traditions across Europe and finds out how bagpipes have had to fight for survival.
Phil Cunningham has a dream. He wants to compose a new piece of music for the bagpipes that reflects how he feels about the instrument.
In order to do that, he needs to find out more about the pipes, and not just the Great Highland Bagpipes that he knows and loves.
In the first of two programmes, Phil uncovers the bagpipe traditions of our European neighbours and how bagpipes have had to fight for survival.
