Australia in Eurovision: Dr Karl ‘would love to be there’
A former Neighbours star says Australia joining the Eurovision song contest is the "most exciting thing ever" and he would “absolutely love to be there". The contest's organisers have invited the country to participate as part of Eurovision's 60th anniversary celebrations.
Dr Karl Kennedy, whose real name is Alan Fletcher, told 5 live “Australians really love Eurovision” and “audiences flock to it".
If he gets the call, he says he is happy to represent Australia himself. “I’d be there with bells on. I think I’d probably have to wear a wig and grow a beard. But I’d be happy to do anything. The sequin suits: I can see it all now”.
He admits the Wiggles, AC/DC or Olivia Newton-John might be better choices.
