Managing digital National Archive "a challenge"
The Chief Executive of the National Archives Jeff James has responded to suggestions by Google's Vint Cerf that in the future our old digital records "may not be readable".
He described managing digital information as "a challenge" but explained "we've developed a digital records infrastructure... it's a very clever technology solution but based on some fundamental principles of understanding what you've got and keeping it safe."
"The responsibilities that are placed on us as a national archive is to look after the information of government, whatever format it comes in".
