50 years on: Malcolm X in Smethwick
Steve Page, producer of 'Malcolm X One day in Smethwick', believes the campaigner had an "interesting and remarkable life".
The director of the award-winning film said that there is little known of Malcolm X's visit to Smethwick because interviews were not broadcast "because of complaints".
The civil rights campaigner visited on 12 February 1965 because at the time the county was considered a hotbed of racial tension. He was assassinated just nine days later while speaking at a rally in New York.
