Google's threat to take down blogs which it considered contained sexually explicit material was met with dismay and anger by many bloggers. The deadline was going to be 23 March but Google then released a statement reversing its position, after a 'ton of feedback'. MWC Modular Phones
This year's Mobile World Congress from Barcelona has showcased a number of phones that might be customised by users. Jen Copestake reflects on Google's modular phone with bits you can take out and repair yourself and also the Puzzle phone. There is also news of the technology that turns mobile devices into 鈥榥etwork probes' to monitor the quality of the wireless environment; and the file-sharing app that lets users message and share files via Wi-Fi, even without an internet connection.

Ford's E-bike
Ford Motor's 'Handle on Mobility' project explores how e-bikes, electric bicycles, can work seamlessly with cars and public transport to deliver faster and easier daily commutes, and help businesses operating in urban centres. Ford has unveiled two prototypes, both offering technology inspired by the automotive industry including a rear-facing ultrasonic sensor. This enables a rider alert system that both warns the cyclist when a vehicle is overtaking, by vibrating both handlebars, and alerts motorists of the presence of the e-bike by illuminating handlebar lights.
