Woolworths CEO: "You don't spend $2.5bn lightly"
Woolworths is a high-end food and clothing South African retailer with big ambitions. In 2014 it bought the Australian department store chain David Jones and is aiming to become the largest retailer in the southern hemisphere.
But it hasn't plunged into the rest of Africa as its competitors, such as Shoprite and Massmart, have done.
The 大象传媒's Matthew Davies sat down with Ian Moir, the chief executive of Woolworths and began by asking him how the David Jones acquisition was feeding through into the bottom line.
