Former MI6 chief rebukes claim that M15 'cause radicalisation'
Mishal Husain interviewed Sir John Sawers, the former head of the Secret Intelligence Service, known as MI6.
He rebuked the claim that treatment by the security services might play a role in radicalisation as "very false and very transparent".
On 27 February 'Jihadi John', who is believed to be responsible for the beheadings of Western hostages by Islamic State, was named as Mohammed Emwazi.
The Kuwaiti-born British citizen, who lived in west London, was reportedly monitored and detained by British Security services in the past, his friends have said.
You can hear the full interview with Sir John Sawers, who left MI6 last November, on the Today programme 28 February from 7am.
