Scene from Fireworks 1
This scene from Fireworks gives us an insight into the complicated struggle for normality during the incarceration of war. Nhala (Sirine Saba) and Khalid (Saleh Bakri) are still coming to terms with the loss of their son Ali, who was a casualty of a bomb attack.
The decision to go outside could have deadly consequences, and so Nhala is not able to visit her son鈥檚 graveside. She cannot escape the prison of the home where their son once was, and they are faced with the constant threat of their own death. Her life becomes unimportant to her, and she begins to joke about suicide.
Khalid is trying his best to be the pragmatic male, redecorating his son鈥檚 room and turning himself into a handy engineer. He can鈥檛 fix his wife, he can鈥檛 save his son, and so all of his focus is turned to protecting his daughter from the world outside the window.
