Nigeria's Model Election
Nigerians have unseated a sitting president and many can't quite believe it. Around Africa, people have also been reacting. Is this a new dawn for democracy in Africa?
Nigerians have been expressing their amazement and surprise that their votes actually counted and unseated a sitting president. And around Africa people have been taking to social media to respond. The conversations are about genuine democracy, accountable politicians, transparent elections, corruption, healing divided countries, and above all – leaders who step down when their time is up. Has this historic election inspired and empowered other Africans?
We’ll hear those conversations from Nigeria and from countries like Kenya, Uganda, Sudan and South Africa.
